Reduce Reuse and RECYCLE

Good day everybody, let us recycle!
Even in the mid-90s beck when I was in primary school Malaysian government has done their part to encourage recycling (I remember seeing adverts on the tele and colourful bins around the school compound). More stressed were given when I was in Wales for my pre-university and luckily when I was studying for my undergraduate, I have one of my housemates who was very particular in recycling!(thank you Emily Reed-plus she supports Green party).

Thanks to the awareness, I try to make it a habit now in my house to recycle almost anything that can be recycled other than food (which Ems will force us to put into her compost bin back in those uni days).

Recycling in KL can be easier at some part of the city than others. Unfortunately, the municipal council where I live in has not introduced any scheme/direction yet for residents to separate their garbage. Luckily there is a recycling centre just about 5 mins away from where I live.

Reuse. Some of the departmental stores in KL (Carrefour especially) will offer their empty boxes up for reusing so you do not need to use/buy their plastic bags. Quite similar to Lidl in the UK. Of course there ara many other ways to reuse that we already know and I do not have to bore you with that.

Reduce. Malaysia imposes the no plastic bag day every Saturday. This effort forcefully reduces the amount of plastic bags consumer would use from grocery stores etc. Good job but please don't stop there Malaysia!

So before thinking of buying a new item or throwing your garbage away; remember Jack Johnson's song Reduceeeeee Reuseeee and Recycleee!

Please go HERE for recycling centre near KL.

Clean up the bottles before storing them in your store room to ensure you won't convert your store room into a huge garbage room.
And to ensure you do not mess around with your wife's car
Drop them to your nearest recycling centre
Good job!! here's RM1.60 for your effort. Add another RM1.40 and send your car for a quick wash
Boxes at Carrefour/Ikea that can be used to carry your purchase items.

Bachelor meal -cili padi 'spaghetti' olio with chicken breast

Hello everybody and welcome!!

I started 'cooking' back in primary school, when I was about 11-12 years old. Reason was simple, there were times that I got hungry and got tired of 'maggie mee' instant noodle. So started to cook things that my parents would; sambal ikan bilis, sardines, sambal daging/ayam, ayam goreng kunyit and of course rice. Many failures along the way but as I grew older I ventured into other 'harder' cuisines such as rendang (not rendang tok), nasi tomato and ayam pandan. Most of the recipes were obtained either from my dad or off the internet.

Olio is one my favourite as it is really easy to be prepared. One evening I wanted olio for dinner but ran out of vermicelli/angel hair....I replaced them with some pasta that I got for free couple of months ago. If you are a bachelor(or married) and hungry, you might want to try this! (seriously quicker than waiting for rice to boil!)

cili padi 'spaghetti' olio with chicken (warning bachelor food for bachelors and noobs only)

A piece of chicken breast would do. Cut them into short fingers. Very little fat can be found on chicken breast, healthy +.
4-5 cloves of garlic, 4 bird eyes chillies!! smash them and cut them (or use pastel & mortar). If I'm not mistaken, chillies can help you to increase your metabolic rate....go and wiki it, i'm not sure.

Olive oil obviously for olio. healthy+

Heat-up about 3 table spoon of the oil and chuck those chicken pieces in. Then mill some peppercorn and sprinkle some chilli flakes + paprika powder. Then the garlic + chillies. Stir fry them, it won't take long.

When you are done with that mix them with the 'spaghetti' (as I said I ran out of spaghetti). The spaghetti must have already been tossed and lightly mixed with some olive oil.

Enjoy your bachelor food with sprinkles of  parmesan cheese.

SHE

Nope, I'm not gonna talk about my wife today, but will write down something on SHE or HSE (depending who you work for).

Today I went through a surreal experience. Now I have to apologise, I'm very bad in describing real life experience but what happened today was indeed terrifying...... for some people at least.

I was crossing a street (Jalan Binjai to be exact) near Intercontinental Hotel/Menara Citi heading towards Ampang LRT Station, heading back to my office from a meeting. Normal stuff, I was attempting to cross the street by raising your hand to some of the rude drivers to ensure we (with a colleague) can cross safely. Just when we were done crossing, I heard a sound (maybe) but I definitely saw stones/rubbles/glasses/construction material falling down from the sky!!

Imagine stones/glasses falling from a crane from this building!

The falling items were probably couple of meters away from me, but my body automatically tap on my friends shoulder twice (no voice came out from me) and ran towards the LRT station. She stuttered for a second wondering why I started running but started dashing on the same direction when she saw the falling items as pointed out by my finger.

After we kinda reach a safe spot, we were intrigued on the damage done, we pray nobody was walking underneath the incident area. Adrenaline was still pumping into my body, people started gathering around the scene area, and I tried to get a snapshot of the damage (barely!). I don't think anybody could survive the impact even with full PPE on. According to my boss which I bumped into later after that incident, the crane's cable snap whilst transferring items to the site. Seriously???Somebody is in a lot of trouble....

A red car was split into two according to my boss who was inside the hotel during the incident. The fallen pillage covered almost all of the street's width.

Thank god it wasn't my time nor any of the by-passers. We live another with His consent.

According to an acquittance, the same construction side has also been seen hovering a huge concrete beam over the road dangerously during busy lunch time. It is ironic that for a moment I felt safer being on an offshore producing platform rather than walking along the streets such as this OR driving (don't get me started on this topic, more people die on the roads than offshore).

Tips for the day: be vigilant, LOOK UP and UTAMAKAN KESELAMATAN ANDA (dan orang di persekitaran anda damn it!!)
