Capoeira ya ya - Capoeira yo yo

My Great Web page
Showing the basic of  'Queda De Rins' to Azalia.
It has been just more than a year since I fixed my ACL and I'm happy to announce that I am able to participate back in Capoeira!! What I have done for this year is to gather friends (& family) who are interested to train together on weekends (morning). We have so far did 3 classes and looking forward for more fun through out the year!!

Capoeira as many people know is a mixture of martial arts, music and dance originated from Brasil during the Portuguese occupation of the country. A martial-art that was once banned in the country has become part of their identity and culture especially in certain parts of the country (such as Bahia).

The 'training' that I conduct with my friends currently is to help them grasp the basic of Capoeira. In general there are loads of Capoeira Groups worldwide with their own grading system, unique sequências and to a certain extent lack of standardization by governing bodies; quite similar to the world of Silat (compare with the likes of WTF for TaeKwonDo). Unlike Silat, Capoeristas around the world acknowledge the 2 predominant styles of playing the 'game', the slower tempo Capoeira Angola and the faster beat Capoeira Regional.

I personally got hooked to this martial arts since 2005 during my university's freshers' fair. Back then there were other activities that caught my attention such as air gliding, air soft and paintball. Capoeira seems to be the best option as it was only £3 per class :P. Being a black-belt TaeKwonDo myself, I was struggling to cope with the intensity of the training and opt to do Capoeira through out my uni life.

If you just recently started Capoeira, check out the links below on basic moves and most importantly check out YouTube and attend classes + roda! Salve!!
